A Quick Word from Matt

How to Mature in your walk with Christ

People have often asked me how to mature in their walk with Christ.  I grew up in church my whole life but I can tell you my faith totally took a turn for the better when I started watching Andy Stanley's messages while I worked a job from home. My job had me sitting at a desk for many hours at a time and I used that time to have Andy's messages playing in the background. He helped grow my faith exponentially because he made the Bible so relevant, clear, and real. The first time I heard him say, "God wants something FOR you, not FROM you." it changed how I viewed the entire Bible and my walk with the Lord. I learned to study his word and even sing his praises in a lot of ways selfishly. I quickly saw the closer I walk with God the better my life is all around. After all, He is our creator so why wouldn't He improve our lives if we are closer to him?

Your WORTH to God

What is your worth? Have you ever paused and asked that question? You can determine the value or worth of something not based on speculation or desire but on the actual price that is paid for it. Paul said in Corinthians that we have been bought with a price. What was that price? It was the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ on a cross! No greater love hath any man than to lay his life down the Bible says! If the Son of God would humble himself to become human and live here on this Earth as our example and ultimately die for our sins, we truly must be worth a whole lot to him! Go out today and live a life full of worth and value knowing we have been bought with the highest purchase price by God almighty!

What's the Other Option?

What is the other option? Have you ever thought about that question when it comes to giving your life to Jesus? I love in the gospel of John 6 when Jesus turns to see his disciples are leaving him.  While this was going on he looks at Peter and says, "Are you going to go too?"  Peter stops and thinks for a second and then replies, "Where else can I go?"  I love this response because of the honesty and raw truthfulness in this statement. Sometimes we let the devil fool us and make us feel the other side is so much better and so much easier. He wants us to feel inadequate and not worthy to be in the presence of God. We feel guilty over our lack of giving or lack of commitment to church and things we should be involved with. This is Satan's goal. He wants nothing more than to make us doubt our faith and feel worthless all the way til death! If you are in a struggle or thinking about giving up on Jesus, ask yourself the same question Peter asked to Jesus. Where are you going to go? We know that truly the only real joy, peace and hope we have is found in him. Why would we ever consider leaving that?

When God allows you to face hard times, is this Love?

When God corrects you or even punishes you, is this love or what?  In Hebrews 12 the apostle Paul says, "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son." I feel we need to be constantly reminded of this. Just like a parent disciplines their children in order to get the long term desired result, God does the same with us. God wants nothing more than for us to live that abundant life he mentions in John 10:10. The next time you feel God is tugging at your heart or making you feel guilt over sin, stop and say a prayer of thanks.  As Hebrews 12 reminds us, this IS a sign of God's love!  Pray that God will give you the ability to humble yourself before him to accept his correction knowing it is all for the good.

How do you KNOW you've been Saved?

Many people think "Is This Whole GOD thing even Real?" Why should I become a Christian?  I have way too many questions I need answered first. If you've ever thought things like this, I highly recommend you watch this video. It changed my life.
